Pink earrings with Kuchi
The Kuchi tribal people of Afghanistan create wonderful jewelry, vintage pieces of which I love to rework into my own art.
In this case, I’ve used long flat charms as mountings for unusual celluloid cabs created in 1940s Japan. One is an apple and the other is a trio of cherries. I embellished them by pouring special contrast paint into the crevices to define the texture. They have unusual hot pink accents and that is reflected throughout the pair.
There are thick hammer-textured bars above made of sections of Indian bangles in lightweight aluminum.
I created double ended ball pins made of rosy copper and coiled them into little dangles to hang on either side for a really satisfying balance effect. Below are my little enamel pins that seem to punctuate the composition.
All my work is completely one of a kind- there will never be two identical pieces.
Comes beautifully gift wrapped with vintage embellishments.
